Renfrew’s Junior B Timberwolves aren’t quite world-beaters just yet, but what a difference a season can make.
The Timberwolves have had their first taste of playoff action since the pandemic, going the distance in a best-of-five series against the Richmond Royals.
Club owner Ryan Leonard credits his coaching staff, led by Jason and Brent Gould, for their ability to recruit and develop.
Following four years playing out of Eganville, club owner Ryan Leonard says the move back home has allowed them to build a young core while also becoming a more desirable destination for players from the Ottawa area.
Leonard is not short on praise for that young nucleus, who has bought into the system and played well throughout the past season. That’s something that bodes well for them when it comes time to think about call-ups to the Junior A Wolves.
The Renfrew Timberwolves’ playoff run would end on Friday night, when they lost to the Royals 5-0 in the fifth game of their best-of-five series.
