After a blistering twelve-game winning streak that spanned much of December and January, the Renfrew Wolves have come back down to earth to lose three of their last four.
The Wolves would salvage a weekend split of their home-and-home series against Nepean after the Raiders jumped out early to double up on the Wolves 6-3 inside the myFM Centre on Saturday. Nepean would score five unanswered goals before Wolves forwards Jace Letorneau and Andrew Morton broke the shutout midway through the third. Mathieu Paquin would also score late.
Goaltender Slava Gordiechuk would struggle in his first action since January 19th, stopping 14 shots on 20 attempts.
The two sides would continue the fight in Ottawa the next evening, where the Wolves would find more success in a 3-2 win. Andrew Morton would pick up a pair of goals, and Noah Vom Scheidt would add the game winner in a high-event game that saw both sides combine for 77 shots on goal. Nolan Lane would take over in goal for Renfrew, stopping 32 of 34 shots for the win.
Renfrew returns home to the myFM Centre for a pair of weekend games, starting this Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Navan Grads.
