East Region OPP say before you’re tempted to laugh at the picture of this vehicle they stopped near Hawkesbury- ask yourself if you’ve ever been impatient to get on your way- or didn’t budget enough time for the extra few minutes it would take to scrape your windows clean?
An obstructed view can lead to charges under the Highway Traffic Act- or worse!
Environment Canada also anticipates freezing rain to impact travel, as ice accretion of 5 to 10mm may create a significant impact on rush hour traffic; surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
Forecasters say the ice storm will begin late overnight or early Friday morning, and end Friday afternoon.
Some locations may see a changeover to rain Friday if temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
