This past weekend’s winter storm has taken a deadly toll in the Ottawa Valley.
Renfrew County paramedics say two people in the region died while shoveling snow following the major storm which began during the late evening on Friday and continued into Saturday.
According to a report from CBC news, Renfrew County Paramedic Chief Mike Nolan noted that both victims were between 50 and 70 years old and suffered cardiac arrest.
He adds that bystanders called paramedics and attempted CPR in both situations, but the two people died in hospital.
Nolan would go on to say local paramedics often get calls about injuries and health complications related to shoveling snow, and they urge people to take it easy and mind how they are feeling while exerting so much energy.
