Nearly 500 civilian members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, stationed at military bases in Ontario and Quebec, including Garrison Petawawa, initiated a strike this morning. The group, represents employees of Non-Public Funds-an independent agency supporting Canadian Armed Forces members within the federal public service-is advocating for fair wages, the implementation of a national pay grid, and enhanced job security. These workers are crucial in providing military members and veterans with food services, recreation, community support, and financial planning services. The union is specifically pushing for a fair and consistent national pay scale and increased benefits for part-time employees, among other improvements.
