Don’t get burned by fines when enjoying your next night by the bonfire.
The Town of Renfrew says burn permits are available right now.
Residents looking to set up a recreational fire pit or an outdoor fire structure can begin the process by heading to the town’s online permit portal.
You won’t need a permit for your barbeque or a CSA-approved propane fireplace, but the town’s by-laws require the owners of set-ups like commercial, non-combustible containers or fire pits to get a permit for them or face multiple potential fines of $200 each.
Keep in mind that there may be fire bans during dry stretches of the year, and always follow the town’s advice on when and where to burn.
