A traffic stop along Highway 17 in Whitewater Region has turned up a major bust for local OPP. Around 9 am on Friday, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP stopped the vehicle. Shortly after, officers found a loaded firearm, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and a quantity of suspected cocaine.
39-year-old Tim Leachman from North Algona-Wilberforce Township faces the following charges:
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking – cocaine
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
