The sixth annual Ugly Sweater Walk is a popular tradition that has raised mega dollars for Arnprior Regional Health.
Derek Stashick is son of Penny Stashick, in whose memory the Walk is named.
Derek says the Walk, in its sixth year, has seen ugly sweater of all descriptions.
Stashick says ugly sweaters are now commonplace in the community- perhaps due to the Walk’s popularity.
Derek says the walk was an instant success when it began in 2018.
For those who have yet to register, there’s still time to do so.
Since 2018 the annual walk has seen hundreds of people don their ugliest holiday sweaters and take to the streets of downtown Arnprior to raise funds for Arnprior Regional Health Foundation, in honour of Penny Stashick. To date, over $121,000 has been raised to support lifesaving equipment.
Prizes will be awarded for the top fundraisers, for ugliest sweaters, and there is also free raffle for everyone who signs up.
Participants show off their ugly sweaters with pride.
At the event, the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation – with help from Arnprior Mayor Lisa McGee and McNab/Braeside Mayor Mark Mackenzie – will make an exciting announcement about lifesaving equipment at the Arnprior hospital.
The Penny Stashick Ugly Sweater Walk will take place at Robert Simpson Park with a 2km walk through historic downtown Arnprior on Saturday December 2nd, 2023. There will be a photo booth, a roaming Santa, Christmas music, and lots of hot drinks and treats available.
