The Renfrew Wolves came into the weekend needing positive results, and they walked out with just that.
The Wolves were able to keep pace in the CCHL’s Robinson Division with a pair of wins over the Rockland Nationals, including a 3-2 win at the Rockland Arena on Friday, November 24th, where Renfrew would score a trio of unanswered goals in the second period to come back from a 2-0 deficit.
That game also saw Jace Letourneau break the 20-goal mark for the first time in his Junior A career, as goaltender Viacheslav Gordeichuk turned away 24 of 26 shots on goal for his seventh win of the season.
The home-and-home series would continue at the myFM Centre in Renfrew the next day, Saturday, November 26th, as the Wolves secured the weekend sweep with a 7-2 drubbing of the Nationals.
Renfrew would share the workload, with a different player scoring each of their seven tallies on the night. The team’s decision to stick with Gordeichuk would also pay off, as the St. Petersburg product made 25 stops on 27 attempts for his second straight win.
The Wolves will wrap up the month of November in Ottawa this Wednesday, November 29th, as they head to the city to play the Jr. Senators. Game time is 7:40 p.m., and 96.1 myFM will join the game in progress following myFM Radio Bingo.
