It’s good news for your next grocery run.
Unifor says No Frills workers at 17 stores in Ontario, including Renfrew’s, have ratified their new collective agreement.
The union says the new agreement includes front-loaded wage improvements of between $3.20 and $4.50-per-hour for all workers at end-rate over the duration of the agreement.
The agreement, which covers almost 13-hundred workers, will also see a new benefits program for part-time workers and new full-time positions.
Larry Savage, a professor in the labour studies department at Brock University, says the resulting win for the discount grocer could have profound implications for the industry and lift wages for all grocery store workers.
