Renfrew County Warden Peter Emon
The County of Renfrew will stay the course with its pick to lead the group in 2024.
Peter Emon is the lone nomination for Warden expected to be presented to County Councillors at their December 12th meeting, marking his second consecutive term and sixth total in the role.
Emon has served in municipal government for 35 years and recently retired from a 40-year career as a public servant in community services. He also currently serves as reeve for the town of Renfrew.
In a statement, he says “it’s a pleasure and honour to serve as Warden” and credits his fellow councillors, who “work hard, contribute ideas, passion, and energy to seeking resolutions and solutions that will benefit our community.”
Emon adds that he intends to continue pressing ahead on key issues of importance to the county and its residents in 2024.
He went on to say that the county has had to evolve to become responsible for more than just traditional services like roads and buildings and that he will “seek solutions on behalf of our friends, family, and neighbours.”
The office of Warden is filled by members of the county council in one-year terms, with a formal nomination process held annually ahead of their inaugural session.
