The Town of Renfrew is turning to a model of in-house Bylaw enforcement rather than continuing to contract it out.
Two by-law officers will be hired to work a combined 70 hours per week. The changes will result in an additional 500 hours of by-law enforcement per year.
It will be an amicable parting of ways with Municipal Law Enforcement Services (MLES), whose contract expires at the end of December (2023).
“We want to thank MLES for their contributions and service to the Town of Renfrew,” says Renfrew Fire Chief and Director of Fire and Emergency Services, Michael Guest.
The new system should be up and running by January, and will provide 10AM to 7PM service, seven days a week and an additional six hours of on-call coverage per week.
