After months of speculation and talks of eviction, Marshall’s Construction is staying put.
The company has agreed to a five-year lease with the Town of Renfrew that will let them stay at 1 Innovation Drive while settling a number of issues between the two sides.
Reeve Peter Emon noted at a special Council meeting on Monday, October 30th, that it includes a tidying of the contract’s wording, settling outstanding money owed, creating a dedicated outdoor storage area, and a clean-up of the premises.
Emon added that negotiating in private can sometimes lead to strained relationships, but neither side needed the issue to drag on for any longer, and the deal is good news for everyone involved.
Mayor Tom Sidney says that he is happy to see Marshall’s stay put and that the new lease is one the town can rely on going forward.
In a statement released by the town, Marshall’s owner, Dave Bennett, says they “are pleased to keep our operations where they are to support local jobs and the economy.”
