A gofundme is being organized in memory of Owen Parkhurst, an 18 year-old Arnprior District High School student who passed away unexpectedly in hospital on Thursday October 26th.
Tammy Kayffeldt Dillabough is organizing the go fund me on behalf of her sister-in-law Crystal and husband Terry, bereaved parents of Owen.
Funds raised will assist with funeral expense and the establishment of an Athletic Award in his name to be presented annually at ADHS.
In Tammy’s words, “Owen had a smile and laugh that could light up a room. His sense of humour and ability to make people smile was something to be admired. He was a great friend to many and the pillar in his family, taking on the role of being the oldest brother to his sister and two brothers.
Owen was passionate about athletics, he played competitive basketball for Valley Pride and was looking forward to being an assistant basketball coach for his younger brother’s team this year.”
She indicates that Owen’s parents have decided to create an athletics award entitled “The Owen Parkhurst Best Sportsmanship Award”.
The fundraising goal is 10 thousand dollars, and a link to the gofundme can be found on our website.
