Mel Blimke tells myFM that what started as a short-term project to bridge into retirement has turned into over a decade and counting of selling everything from candy to cottage décor and more.
We caught up with the co-owner of A Sense of Country for Small Business Week, as he explains that keeping the general store a favourite stop for customers from near and far has meant long hours and making himself available when they need him.
He adds that their dedication to exceeding customer expectations has allowed them to expand their space, filling the entire bottom floor of their Raglan Street shop, giving them a chance to celebrate and engage with the community each month.
Not only that, but Blimke says A Sense of Country close to adding a new way to find everything to adore and more.
He says a big part of making it as a small business in the Ottawa Valley is listening closely to the wants and needs of customers and delivering on those desires as often as possible.
