Last week, Hockey Canada made an announcement regarding a new dressing room policy. However, local parents won’t have to worry about learning any new rules. Hockey Eastern Ontario’s District 5 Chair, Brydon Schaap explains.
Schaap understands Hockey Canada’s changes, which are meant to help members feel comfortable and safe. But, Schaap explains, the HEO has been using policies set in place by the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. They feel that those policies, at least for now, are sufficient.
The discussion first came about after the announcement took parents and players, but surprise.
However, Schaap says, if they ever do update their policy, they will be sure to give parents plenty of heads-up.
