Acting Sergeant Brianna Roberge from the Renfrew OPP detachment will be at St. John Chrysostom Parish Hall on Tuesday, (October 10th) at 7PM.
She will lead a presentation and discussion on cyber security and online scams.
Scammers, while they are at minimum an annoyance, can also drain your life savings if you let them.
Roberge says because they are pros at what they do, scammers can tell a lot about you just by your voice- but sometimes a little background research may come from an unexpected source.
There’s seemingly no end to the variety of scams one can encounter.
A frequent tactic is to call you at an odd hour with “information” that will tug at your heartstrings.
Roberge says never be tempted to give personal information over the phone.
She’s inviting you to the Tuesday session hosted by St. John Chrysostom Parish.
The session is free, and the basement hall has a large capacity.
Acting Sergeant Roberge will stay afterward to allow for personal conversations about any instances that may have happened to you that you have been shyly keeping to yourself.
The Parish Hall is located at 295 Albert Street in Arnprior and all are welcome to attend.
