The Renfrew Wolves were unable to get a back-and-forth battle to break their way on Friday, September 29th, as they dropped a 5-3 decision in Rockland.
It’s been a sluggish start to the season for the Wolves, who had won just one of their first four games heading into the Rockland Arena to take on the undefeated Nationals.
The two teams would trade goals in the first and second periods, and a flurry of action in the first minute of the third would have them deadlocked at 3-3 before Rockland took advantage of a powerplay to pull ahead for good.
Max Gorzelnik, Joshua Penney, and Mikayil Kahriman scored for the Wolves, as starting goaltender Viacheslav Gordeichuk was removed just a few moments into the game. Backup Ethan Dinsdale came in to make 23 saves on 27 attempts.
Renfrew will not have much time to ponder their loss as they head home to the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre for their next game against the Cornwall Colts on Saturday, September 30th. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
