The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is this Saturday, September 30th, and programming is underway right now in Renfrew.
Things got underway at the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre on Tuesday with a blanket exercise and will continue online with a Zoom workshop on crafting your own land acknowledgement on Thursday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Registration is not needed, with the link to attend here.
Then, on Saturday at 11:00am, you’re invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on in Ma-te-Way Park for performances from the Spirit Wolf Singers and local dancers before teachings on Indigenous culture.
All of the events are free to attend, with buses from Town Hall to Ma-te-Way Park available every twenty minutes on Saturday between 10:00am and 11:00am.
There will also be an accessible bus leaving at 10:30 am, and return busses will leave Ma-te-Way Park for Town Hall once the event ends at noon.
