The 25th Annual Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament took place Friday on a spectacular September afternoon, after being postponed by wildfire smoke this Spring.
A quarter century ago, the tourney was the brainchild of Jim Lemenchick- who first approached then-Foundation Chair Bob Stark with the idea for the venture.
Lemenchick recalls Stark’s query, “You don’t think we’ll lose any money on it do you, Jim?”
In the 24 year-runup to the tourney’s silver anniversary, with a total of 1.5 million dollars raised for RVH, the answer has to be “no”.
Marg Tubman, who has attended every Foundation Golf Tournament, took the opportunity to congratulate Jim- and let it slip that the event marks Lemenchick’s retirement.
RVH Foundation Executive Director Patti Dillabough says Lemenchick will not be forgotten.
myFM morning personality Jamie Cybulski broke the story on 96.1- and passed the mic to Jim, who was taken aback with all of the fanfare.
