Terry Fox Run organizers Dan Donohue and Patti Leclaire preparing runners for the event on Sunday, September 17th
Renfrew’s Terry Fox Run has already topped last year’s fundraising efforts, and it might not be done.
Co-organizer Patti Leclaire gave myFM the details as this year’s group of runners met outside the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre ahead of their 2k, 5k, and 10k treks up the Millennium Trail on Sunday morning.
That $13,000 estimate also blows past the $9,000 goal they had set up for this year, as fellow organizer Dan Donohue adds that this year’s donations add to an already impressive amount raised locally over the past 42 years.
We asked them if there is anything that would make next year’s event even better than what we saw this weekend.
Renfrew has held Terry Fox runs, in one form or another, since 1981, one year after Terry Fox inspired people around the world with his cross-Canada journey for cancer research.
