A day dedicated to ending the shame around recovery from substance abuse is coming to Renfrew.
Liana Sullivan, the Executive Director of the Mackay Manor, invites you to drop by Low Square on Friday, September 22nd, from noon to 4:00pm for Recovery Day, where residents will get the chance to hear the stories of local people who have battled addiction and substance abuse.
The Recovery Day initiative got its start in British Columbia back in 2012, and its local counterpart has run the previous two years in the Pembroke area.
Sullivan says that the move was made in order to bring their annual day of breaking the stigma around recovery from addiction to a more central spot in Renfrew County while also keeping the event mobile enough to potentially bring it to other communities in the Ottawa Valley.
Guest speakers and our local recovery supports and services will be on hand, and Liana says a new feature area has been added for this year’s event as well.
Sullivan hopes to see plenty of people drop by to enjoy the free event in order to get acquainted with the services and programs that are in the area should you or someone you know need their assistance.
