Renfrew’s mayor says a blast from the past could be in the starting blocks for next summer.
During the Downtown Renfrew BIA’s Community Celebration on Saturday, August 26th, Mayor Tom Sidney let us in on a major addition in the works for when they hold the event again next year.
After a solid turnout for the first annual Community Celebration which took over Low Square and the surrounding area over the weekend, Sidney says adding a classic soap box derby back to the town’s event schedule would be a great way to show off what Renfrew has to offer.
Not only that, but he adds that an old-fashioned bed race could be part of next year’s festivities, too.
Sidney says that it’s all in an effort to make events like this weekend’s BIA celebration bigger and better each year, which will in turn draw more interest to town from people looking to visit or settle down in the area.
