A military presence might impact your next trip down the Ottawa River.
The Canadian Army says reserve soldiers will be conducting convoy and assault boat training along the river from Ottawa to Pakenham, Fitzroy Harbour, and Arnprior every Saturday in August, starting this weekend.
You will likely see uniformed personnel using inflatable boats in the water and military vehicles on local roads, and some areas along the planned routes will be closed off from morning to evening on August 12th, 19th, and 26th. Any soldiers taking part will not be carrying weapons or ammunition.
The Army apologizes for the inconvenience and adds that the training is important preparation for emergencies like the local flooding crisis back in 2019, but also asks that you take extra caution when approaching a military vehicle during the exercises.
