Clean-up continues in Ottawa, as the nation’s capital bore the brunt of intense weather cell activity twice on Friday.
A storm observed over Cotieville and Renfrew areas, which then tracked through Anrpior and prompted Enivronment Canada to briefly issue a tornado warning Friday evening, and even delayed the CFL game at Lansdowne Park.
An earlier band of thunderstorms knocked out power in four City Wards (Merivale-Knoxvale, River, Bay and Kitchissippi), affecting 13 thousand customers in Ottawa and an undisclosed number in Gatineau.
Heavy hail damage was reported to parked vehicles and the severe thunderstorm played havoc with the evening commute on the 417.
Hydro Ottawa acknowledges clean-up will be a multi-day event as there is damage to conductors and power lines in addition to the felled trees and branches.
A portion of Dunrobin Road was among two areas areas Hydro Ottawa says remained without power Sunday night.
