An suspected arsonist is being held for bail after a recent fire in Whitewater Region.
Renfrew OPP and emergency services were sent to Mine View Road at around 3:00am on Sunday, June 25th, where a car fire had spread to an adjacent home.
Officers suspected arson and that the suspect had fled the scene. They would later find 39-year-old Timothy Kenneth Godin of Whitewater Region trying to evade them on foot.
He now faces five related charges, including:
- Arson- Disregard for human life
- Arson- Damage to property
- Unlawfully start fir in a restricted fire zone
- Possession Incendiary Material
- Failure to comply with release order- other than to attend court
The lone person inside the home at the time of the blaze was safely removed by firefighters with no injuries.
