You’re not alone if you think there are more mosquitos this year. David Dutkiewicz of the Invasive Species Centre in Sault St. Marie says it likely has to do with the cooler temperatures we saw earlier this month, because they’re not the biggest fans of heat.
He says a great way to help slow down their breeding process is to reduce the standing water, like in dogs’ bowls or bird baths on your property. He says also do your best to disperse water if you see pooling. One piece of information worth arming yourself with is that they don’t like wind
You can use any number of repellants to keep them at bay – all in the name of making the summer an enjoyable one.
