Renfrew’s mayor and reeve are offering their condolences as reactions continue to pour in after Friday night’s fatal shooting.
Officers were sent to a home on Vimy Boulevard late Friday night, where they found 41-year-old Jonathan Logan of Renfrew County with gunshot wounds before he was declared dead by a coroner at a nearby hospital.
In a statement, Mayor Tom Sidney notes that he has been in contact with both local police and the Police Services Board. He adds that “Renfrew is a safe community, and this is an unfortunate isolated incident.”
Town Reeve and Renfrew County Warden Peter Emon says, “We are saddened by this instance of gun violence and offer our sincere condolences to the family of the victim.”
The Town of Renfrew adds that this is an ongoing police matter, and they have no further comment at this time. However, they are suggesting that residents who might require support at this time should reach out to assistive services in our community.
