The audit of the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre expansion project in Renfrew will get underway shortly.
On Tuesday, May 23rd, Council approved bringing in WCSC Consultants to put together a detailed report on what went wrong with the project, which has seen massive overages and delays.
Tremblay noted that the qualifications of their principal member make WCSC Consultants a good choice to handle the file.
The effort to thoroughly audit the processes, contract, and work surrounding the project was not only a key talking point during last year’s municipal elections, but has also been routinely discussed by the town council since they began the current session.
Reeve Peter Emon is encouraged by what he’s learned about the consultant group from his contemporaries outside of Renfrew.
Councilor Andrew Dick, who has been a vocal supporter of bringing an audit into play, was also pleased to see the report get underway.
The deal with WCSC Consultants includes 266 hours of total effort with a detailed “lessons learned” report due by the end of the year, which town council hopes will serve as a road map for large scale construction projects in the future.
The $35,600 bill for the audit will come out of the MAC Expansion project’s contingency fund.
