When considering the upcoming long weekend, a word that comes to mind is “safety”. Unfortunately, with good safety practice, comes some hard choices, and the Bonnechere Caves are no exception. Co-owner of the facility Chris Hinsperger tells myFM that with the recent heavy downpours in the Valley, the Bonnechere River rose to flood levels and haven’t gone down enough to clear the cave system of the overflow.
The recent flood levels of rain, while a welcome change from the snow, left the caves needing to be pumped for safety’s sake. Unfortunately, this means that your Victoria Day may need to make other plans while they take care of it.
