The “Heads & Hearts Run/Walk/Bike” is intended to raise money to combat one of the most neglected of maladies, brain cancer.
That’s organizer Julie Villamere, who says Pat Macgregor has lent her name to the event.
Villamere says participants have a choice of distances over which to participate- 2, 5 or 10 kilometres.
Julie says all money raised by participants will help tackle brain cancer in Canada.
With the huge number of varieties of the disease, brain cancer research only received three percent of total cancer prevention funding in Canada.
Villamere expects many, if not most of the participants will be outfitted in grey that day.
Julie says you can pledge your money online, or bring it to the event the day of.
The Heads and Hearts run is slated for Saturday May 27th at Mateway Park, rain or shine.

Donations can be made to braincancercanada.ca/fundraiser PAT’S STORY or accepted on the day of the event.
