Downtown Renfrew is almost ready to welcome back Patio Season.
At their meeting on Tuesday, April 11th, Town Council gave the green light to Finnegan’s Restaurant and Karras’ Way on Raglan Street to start rebuilding their outdoor patios.
Mayor Tom Sidney says the patios are a great addition each summer, but added one task to be done by Town Planner Eric Withers ahead of time.
The recent warm stretch of weather that Renfrew has been able to enjoy made it a seemingly perfect time for Council to consider the sidewalk dining spaces, a feature that Reeve Peter Emon would like to see more of.
Withers was also called on to walk Council through a new process that will make it easier for Renfrew’s downtown restaurants to set up outdoor patios.
He explained that, up to this point, restaurants had to apply each year to set theirs up.
Both approved patios will feature a walkway around the sidewalk space being used for customer seating, and an accessible parking spot that would be covered by one of them is expected to be moved over to accommodate.
