Results are in from the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP’s annual Easter Long Weekend Seatbelt Campaign. The report shows that OPP officers laid 14 seatbelt charges over the course of the long weekend. In addition to that, officers laid four impaired driving related charges, along with 50 speeding charges, two stunt driving charges, 10 hazardous moving violations offences and five charges under the Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA). In total, officers conducted 146 traffic stops over the course of the four-day campaign.
Detachment Commander Steph Neufeld spoke to the dedication officers showed toward the OPP Traffic Safety Initiative stating, “Public safety is paramount, and the efforts of our officers reflect the OPP’s dedication to ensuring the safety of all road users.”
