Plans are in motion to fill the unused space in Renfrew’s Town Hall.
At Town Council’s meeting on Tuesday, February 28th, Chief Administrative Officer Robert Tremblay shared plans to find a general contractor to renovate the former OPP Detachment for two separate entities.
On top of the soon-to-be-announced government agency, the other portion of the old police station will become a business hub with three anchor tenants.
The Renfrew and Area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Renfrew BIA, and the Community Futures Development Corporation have signed letters of intent to lease space in the business hub.
Tremblay explains it will run on a “hot seat model,” with entrepreneurs, startups, and small business owners able to lease space as well.
The contract to renovate the space is expected to be awarded sometime in March, with the work to be done between April and September.
