Our local school boards are teaming up to highlight First Nations, Inuit, and Métis voices.
Kellie Hisko, Indigenous Education Lead with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, says their free, virtual Indigenous Speakers series is collaboration with the public school board and will celebrate local, provincial, and nationally known indigenous people.
She adds getting the chance to showcase these people has been a priority for both herself and her counterpart with the Renfrew County District School Board, Vice President of Indigenous Education Tina Nelson.
Meanwhile, Nelson is also excited for the speakers who are set to join them virtually from now until April, adding that this series is a continuation of their very popular talks which started last year.
She also says it’s an opportunity for everyone to hear from Indigenous people from all walks of life and professions.
The next speaker is author and 60’s Scoop survivor Cathy Phannenhour starting at 7:00pm on Tuesday, February 28th.
Find the schedules as their posted and register to listen in on either the RCDSB or RCCDSB websites.
