A homeowner in Whitewater Region with a property assessed at $179,000 who is connected to municipal water and sewer will pay an extra $30.95 a month or $371.40 in 2023.
The Township is looking to pass their budget on Wednesday night (February 15th) which would include a 8.99 percent increase to the tax levy, a 12.25 percent increase for wastewater and a 9.3 percent increase to water rates.
Residential users connected to municipal water will see rates increase from $989.40 in 2022 to $1,081.41 in 2023 (monthly increase of $7.67).
Residential users connected to wastewater (sewer) will see rates increase from $1,505.28 in 2022 to $1,689.68 in 2023 (monthly increase of $15.37).
The average property assessed at $179,000 will see a $95 increase in municipal taxes in 2023 (monthly increase of $7.92). For property owners in Whitewater Region that works out to an increase in $45.40 per every $100,000 in assessment.
Township staff and council started working on the budget on December 7th, 2022 and have had five separate meetings to go over the numbers.
The budget for Whitewater Region is expected to pass at the council meeting Wednesday night.
