There will be new owners for the Home Hardware location in Renfrew. Owners Steve and Karen Maxwell are selling to Adam and Jasmine Moulton, who own four Home Hardware Building Centre locations across Ontario located in Woodstock, Ingersoll, Strathroy and Barrie. Karen Maxwell says the new owners are successful and award winning retailers.
Maxwell tells our newsroom if the deal goes through as expected on March 1st, they will have been at the location in Renfrew for 29-years and 29-days.
Maxwell says retail has changed a lot over the years with a transition to online shopping and trying to keep people shopping locally. The dealer owner and president of the company says they have 42 employees at the Renfrew Home Hardware who have become like a family over the years.
The greatest accomplishment for Maxwell is hiring, training, mentoring and supporting people. The Renfrew Home Hardware has also won industry awards including national recognition in 2011 as Best Community Leader by Hardware Merchandising Magazine. Maxwell adds when they came to Renfrew they also had the opportunity to support the local hospital and doctor recruitment.
After the sale of the Renfrew Home Hardware goes through, Karen says she plans to spend more time painting, gardening, power lifting, reading and might write a novel. She says her husband Steve is looking forward to developing some property they own and notes it will be different coming into Home Hardware as customers instead of owners.
The Renfrew Home Hardware Building Centre is a 25,000 square foot retail store with an 18,000 square foot drive-through building materials warehouse on 5.2 acres on O’Brien Road.
