Hydro-Quebec has provided an update on an extended power outage impacting homes in the Isle-aux-Allumettes, Chichester and Sheenboro area.
Residents have been dealing with rolling power outages since Saturday (February 4th).
In a statement on Sunday, Hydro-Quebec said due to a problem at the Waltham Generating Station, they must supply electricity to customers Isle-aux-Allumettes, Chichester and the Sheenboro area from the Coulonge Generating Station which does not have the capacity.
Customers in the area will be experiencing rotational outages on an approximate schedule of 1 hour ON, followed by 1 hour OFF throughout the day.
The utility provider is asking customers to reduce their electricity consumption as much as possible and to heat only one room and isolate it.
Hydro-Quebec says the issue at the Waltham Power Plant is being repaired today (February 6th) and back-up generators have been installed by crews in certain sectors.
Hydro-Quebec says if consumption levels remain low a planned power outage at 6:00pm will not be required.
