The Mayor of Whitewater Region is reflecting on 2022 and looking ahead to 2023.
Neil Nicholson says it was a busy past year as they welcomed new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Ivan Burton and new councilors after the fall municipal election.
Nicholson says the Township is planning to pass the budget by February 15th and they will also be working to create a new strategic plan to help guide the municipality over the next five to twenty years.
The Mayor of Whitewater Region highlighted two main challenges which included supporting seniors and addressing the demand for daycare.
Nicholson will also sit on County Council on the health and community services committees.
Nicholson says this year the Township will be focusing on development, issuing building permits, and business expansions.
He adds that Whitewater Region is open for business and talked about two new businesses that recently opened in Cobden, Sour Jo’s Sourdough Bakery and Dante’s Delicatessen.
