A big question on Renfrew’s minds has been about the Ma-te-Way Expansion.
Supply chain issues have caused the opening to be delayed and inflation has forced the town to go over budget to get the job done, but by how much?
Parks and Recreation Director Jordan Wall says his team will be meeting with Town Council soon to address those concerns.
Wall adds that meeting is set to be held in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, work on the Ma-te-Way Expansion has headed inside.
The second ice rink and other facilities like the Algonquin First Nation Cultural Centre, gymnasium, and business space are all starting to take shape within the addition.
Wall tells myFM that they’re working hard to make sure all the tenants will be happy from day one.
The second rink is a major feature for the project, which Wall says could open up the chance for Renfrew to host some big events.
Wall says the pipes and trenchwork were done at the end of the 2022, and slab work for the ice surface is not too far behind.
