Ontario Power Generation says if you’re having fun near their stations this winter, you’re on thin ice- literally.
The changing flow and currents in the water near their hydro stations and dams creates ice that is not thick enough to use for any sort of activity such as ice fishing, skating, or traveling over a frozen waterway.
But, despite repeated warnings from OPG, some people still put themselves at risk by disregarding the signs and barriers near their locations.
Ontario Power Generation ask that you obey all warning signs, fencing, and booms near OPG property, and remind you that they do work with local police to enforce those postings.
Stay clear and stay safe this holiday season.
