Christmas came early for many families in need from the Renfrew area.
That’s Katie Skerkowski, the organizer for the Drive-Thru Family Food and Toy Giveaway at Ma-te-Way Park during the evening of Sunday, December 18th.
She says Santa and Mrs. Claus were able to see 850 people off with a gifts and toys, as well as a turkey dinner with the trimmings, due in large to their little helpers.
Despite the large amount of traffic passing through on Sunday, Skerkowski says that volunteers and members of Renfrew OPP were able to hand everything out in about an hour and a half.
Along with everyone who helped on the night, she’s also thankful to the town for letting them use their space again this year.
She adds that as long as there’s a need for an event like the Drive-Thru Family Food, she plans to keep running it.
