Wednesday marks not only the start of Yuletide, but more important locally, it is 1000 days (and nights) of VTAC, the Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre in Renfrew County.
Paramedic Chief Michael Nolan, the Director of Emergency Services for the County of Renfrew, observes that RC VTAC came online a mere dozen days after the COVID-19 Pandemic was declared.
Nolan says 211 Ontario helped get the 1-800 number up and running- and the calls haven’t stopped.
The EMS Director says RC VTAC continues to log firsts, recently becoming the first team in Canada to offer in-home ultrasound; but bottom line is, VTAC still has a mission- and wants to stick around.
Actual work may preclude pausing for a celebration, so in its stead, myFM offers a big shoutout to the selfless RC VTAC Team; Renfrew County is better for their continuing contribution.
