The Renfrew Wolves could make Mayor Tom Sidney very happy with one more win ahead of the holiday break after dispatching of the Pembroke Lumber Kings at the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre on Friday evening, 6-1.
Sidney and Pembroke Mayor Ron Gervais made a friendly wager in late November that they’ve dubbed the Battle of the Valley: the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Reeve of the losing side in the five-game season series will have to don the winning team’s jersey for an upcoming council meeting.
Joey Kennelly (2), Trent Scullion, Tyson Tomasini, Jace Letourneau, and Elvis Slack all found the back of the Pembroke net during the game, while Vital Dinis was able to break up a clean sheet for the Renfrew Wolves’ defense part way through the second period.
Renfrew now takes a 2-0 Battle of the Valley series lead, and can win the whole thing outright on Sunday when they travel to the Pembroke Memorial Centre for Game 3 with the Lumber Kings.
That game will come after the Wolves welcome the Kemptville 73’s to Ma-te-Way on Saturday, February 17th. Game time is 7:30pm.
