Renfrew Council got word on the progress towards the town’s new Master Transportation Plan at their meeting on Tuesday, December 6th.
They were joined by Steve Taylor of BTE Engineering, who explained it’s first of it’s kind for the town since the previous one, which covered 1967 to 1990.
It’s a plan is taking an expected spike in population into account as some major ideas being mulled over right now include collector roads that would connect upcoming sub-developments on the edge of town boundaries and an alternative to “Confusion Corner,” which connects Raglan Street, Hall Avenue, and Veterans Memorial Boulevard.
Renfrew’s Director of Infrastructure and Public Works, Mike Asselin, would field a question from council regarding the impact on those new developments. He explains that the plan will lay out what developers will need to know as they prepare to build new commercial and residential areas in town.
Renfrew’s new Master Transportation Plan is currently going through the consultation and traffic phases, as the finalized version of the plan is expected to be presented to council by October of 2023.
