The Renfrew Wolves are on a roll as the CCHL nears its Holiday break, beating the Hawkesbury Hawks 6-3 on Friday, December 2nd to pick up their fifth win in six games.
Unfortunately for the Wolves, they would be shorthanded before the game even started after forward Jace Letourneau ran afoul of a recent rules crackdown by the league. Letourneau would shoot a puck over center ice during warmups, which landed him a 10-minute match penalty and a reported five game suspension.
Despite losing a player before puck drop, Renfrew would open scoring. Tyson Thomasini and Elvis Slack both picked up their 13th goals of the season within a minute of each other near the end of the first period.
Hawkesbury would get on the board in the second period thanks to Remi Gelinas, Antoine Dorion, and Ryan Liverman. However, Renfrew would match that effort with three goals of their own from Tyson Phare, Robert Martiniello, and Elvis Slack’s 2nd tally of the night.
Brendan Waivada would seal the deal in the final frame with his 7th goal of the season.
Wolves goaltender Sebastian Resar made 27 stops on 30 attempts to pick up his 4th win in a row and 10th on the year. It was a much busier night for Hawkesbury’s Dekon Randell-Snow, who stopped 44 out of 50 attempts on net.
The Renfrew Wolves are back in action on Saturday, December 3rd as they start a four game homestead against the Cornwall Colts. Puck drops at the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre at 7:45pm.
