Our local palliative care centre has earned accreditation for its high level of end-of-life care.
Hospice Renfrew tells myFM that they’ve made the grade with Hospice Palliative Care Ontario’s accreditation program after the HPCO visited the facility back in August to review their practices and services.
The hospice was recently informed that they passed with what they call an impressive score of 92.8 percent.
Hospice Renfrew Executive Director Marjorie Joly calls it an amazing accomplishment, adding that they’re “pleased to receive formal recognition of the high standard of care our team delivers.”
Critical Service Coordinator Cindy Stafford says the experience was incredibly positive, adding it was an “opportunity to dive deep into our processes and to observe what we were already doing well and where we could improve to better serve residents and their families.”
Lastly, Board Chair Gerald Tracey calls the accreditation a testament to the dedication and commitment of the staff and volunteers at the end-of-life facility. He adds that it confirms their “reputation for providing wonderful care to the residents and their families.”
HPCO’s Accreditation Program acts as a provincial benchmark for hospice care, and ensures the delivery of consistent, high quality palliative care services throughout Ontario.
Hospice Renfrew goes through the accreditation process every three years.
