myFM has received a tip about a potential scam from a local listener whose wife was approached by a pushy salesman.
The anonymous tipster says that his wife was approached with an offer to repave their driveway for $8500, cash only, which they turned down.
The salesman would make multiple returns and get increasingly aggressive with the couple as they continued to say no to his offer. He alleges that the salesman attempted to intimidate his wife after repeated rejections and claimed to have connections to a larger local construction company.
However, when the tipster called them, the larger company said they had no affiliation.
He adds that the phone number on the on the paving company’s flyer only goes to voicemail and their address was a p/o box and not a standalone location, which has added to his doubts about their legitimacy.
Our tipster says that a recent post to social media asking about the suspicious paving company got several unhappy replies back from as far as Fitzroy Harbour about their high-pressure sales tactics.
