In the early days of the COVID crisis, it was a simple proposition; mask up to protect yourself and others- and the most at risk were our seniors, and those confined to long-term care homes.
Now, with COVID still a threat, it has been joined by flare-ups in the flu and RSV- and the most at risk are infants and young children.
Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit says with this triple threat affecting most particularly the very young, he’s very disappointed there’s no mask mandate being imposed.
Cushman says in part it is a lack of political will on the part of the Doug Ford government, who are forfeiting the opportunity for leadership.
The Acting Medical Officer of Health says if only most people could see (what he’s seen) the plight of an infant on a ventilator, their decision to mask would be the obvious choice.
The RCDHU is offering a series of clinics where you can get a flu shot and a COVID booster at the same time and location- or pick one or the other.
In Arnprior, one of those is this afternoon (Tuesday November 15th) at the old Grove building on Ida Street this afternoon, from 1-3PM for flu shot only, and between 3-6PM for both a flu shot and COVID booster.
Another is November 30th at the Old Grove.
November 16th there’s a clinic for both at the Yakabuski Community Centre in Barry’s Bay and November 21st at the Germania Club in Pembroke from 3-6PM
Check the RCDHU website for times and locations from November 22nd-30th- and do the right thing.
