The final meeting for the current term of Renfrew Council heard good news about two major events this year.
Town Clerk Victoria Charbonneau let council know on Tuesday, November 8th that July’s Bluegrass Festival drew in an estimated $79,072 worth of spending in town and that attendance is expected to grow 15 percent next year.
Charbonneau notes the Bluegrass Festival was able to break even financially, which was impressive since similar events in the area didn’t fare as well with concerns over COVID-19.
Mayor Don Eady took a moment to reflect on what good events do for the town.
The good news continued on Tuesday as Charbonneau also announced the success of October’s Craft Beer and Food Truck Festival, which itself was estimated to have pulled in over $128,000 dollars in spending within the town.
Attendance for the fall festival along Low Square saw major increases from 2019, the last year it was run before the pandemic forced the town to put it on hiatus.
Eady notes that people were itching to get out after the pandemic, and the two events delivered on that need.
